Part of 12/21 Wawae Rd (KAUAI) Collaborated Personal Property Auction (timed auction by Malama Auctions & Realty)
High bid $70.00
Status: Sold
“Cheyenne,” a bronze tabletop reproduction of Frederic Remington’s original work captures the beauty of galloping horse and Native American rider. This was Remington’s sixth sculpture, and the original cast can be found at the Denver Museum of Art. Remington pushed the boundaries of sculpture with a subject that has no connection to the ground except the dust that the horses hooves kicked up. He stated that the horse “burned the air.” The base is dark green marble, and the sculpture is heavy, detailed and in good vintage condition. It was purchased at the traveling fine art auctions that used to visit our island in the 1980s and ‘90s.
