#57 • Antique Campaign Travel Desk

Part of 12/21 Wawae Rd (KAUAI) Collaborated Personal Property Auction (timed auction by Malama Auctions & Realty)

High bid $100.00

Status: Sold

This portable desk was used by early travelers hoping to stay in touch with loved ones and business associates during their long journeys. This antique campaign desk is a wooden box that opens to reveal a slanted desktop with leather top, and storage compartments for pen, ink, and paper. A note card inside identifies the wood as antique Honduran mahogany, and a brass plaque on the outside identifies the original owner, R. McNair, and the year 1858. In great antique condition.
