High bid $143.00

Status: Sold

A beautifully decorated Chinese porcelain fishbowl jardinière, featuring a deep emerald-green ground richly adorned with hand-painted floral motifs in pink, lavender, white, and yellow tones. The exterior displays large blossoming flowers and foliage arranged in a continuous garden scene, framed by a decorative floral border along the rim. The interior is finely painted with swimming goldfish and aquatic plants, a traditional motif associated with prosperity, abundance, and harmony in Chinese decorative arts. The bowl is accompanied by a carved wooden display stand, elevating the vessel and enhancing its presence as a decorative object. Such bowls were historically used both as ornamental fish bowls and as indoor planters, commonly placed in entry halls or gardens as statement pieces. Chinese fishbowls often feature interior fish decoration, symbolizing luck, wealth, and abundance in Chinese culture, while the exterior floral decoration reflects traditional decorative styles seen in export porcelain and decorative ceramics.
