An elegant Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos clock, one of the most celebrated achievements in mechanical horology. Housed in a classic glass-panel brass case, the clock showcases its intricate movement from all sides, allowing the viewer to appreciate the precision engineering within. The dial features applied gilt markers and Arabic numerals at the quarter hours, with the signature “Jaeger-LeCoultre” and “Atmos” markings on the face. Invented in 1928 by Swiss engineer Jean-Léon Reutter, the Atmos is renowned for its near-perpetual movement. Unlike traditional clocks, it requires no winding, batteries, or electricity. Instead, it derives its energy from minute changes in ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. A sealed capsule inside the movement contains a gas that expands and contracts with temperature fluctuations, gently winding the mainspring and allowing the clock to run for years with virtually no human intervention.
